Add the Microsoft Teams app
Team Today is free to install from the Microsoft Teams app store.
How it works
You can do most things in Team Today without leaving Microsoft Teams. It works in the Teams mobile app too, so there's no separate app to download. See Using the MS Teams app for what each tab contains.
The app is free to install, and the Free plan covers up to 10 users. Larger teams need a paid plan, which you manage on the website.
How to add the Team Today app to MS Teams for small teams and individuals
- In Microsoft Teams, click the Apps icon at the bottom of the left-hand bar.
- Search for Team Today.
- Click "Add".
- To keep it in the sidebar, right-click the Team Today icon and select "Pin".
- If it doesn't appear in Teams on your phone, sign out of Teams on your phone and sign back in.
How IT admins can add Team Today app to MS Teams for everyone
- Open the Teams admin center.
- Go to Teams apps > Manage apps, search for Team Today and click its name. Check that the app is allowed in your organisation.
- Go to Teams apps > Setup policies and click the policy you want to add it to. The Global policy covers everyone who doesn't have a custom policy.
- Under "Installed apps", click "Add apps", search for Team Today and click "Add". Everyone in the policy gets the app installed automatically.
- If you also want it in everyone's Teams sidebar, add Team Today under "Pinned apps".
- Click "Save". Policy changes can take up to a day to reach everyone.
Signing in and admin consent
Team Today signs people in with their Microsoft 365 account. The first time someone signs in, Microsoft asks them to allow Team Today to read their basic profile, such as their name and email address.
If your organisation doesn't let users allow apps themselves, people see a message saying that sign-in needs admin approval for your organization. An IT admin then needs to grant consent for Team Today once, for everyone. You can do this in the Microsoft Entra admin centre under Enterprise applications > Team Today > Permissions.
